2 "Property Brothers" Renovated Homes For Sale in Bay Area

Updated: Apr 30, 2018

4241 Santa Rita Rd. in El Sobrante is one of two Bay Area homes just renovated for HGTV's "Brother vs Brother" TV show and now available for sale. Photo from Zillow.

If you watch HGTV, you're familiar with Jonathan and Drew Scott. These "Property Brothers" have another show called "Brother vs Brother," where they each renovate a house as a competition to see whose design is better.

For the first time ever on "Brother vs Brother," the Scott brothers have just renovated homes here in the San Francisco Bay Area.

The two homes are newly on the market. They're in the East Bay cities of El Sobrante and Pinole (Contra Costa County).

Unfortunately, there are no open houses (not surprising given the crowds they would draw). If you want to see either home, you and your agent need to pre-register at jonathanvsdrew.com. Interesting note: if you go, you also have to sign a confidentiality agreement and you may not take any photos.

Short of that, below are some photos from Zillow and links to see more of the beautiful designs! Which brother do you think is the winner? Tell us in the comments!

4241 Santa Rita Rd. | El Sobrante, CA 94803

From what I see on the MLS, this is the highest-priced listing in El Sobrante right now at $1,050,000. According to Zillow, this home last sold as a foreclosure in November 2017 for $420,000.

And so what about the fabulous furnishings that "make" the home? Do they come with the sale? The listing agent says the buyer "may take the more than $160,000 of furniture and decor (styled by Jonathan) if the price is right." Whoa!

Here's a partial MLS property description:

"Jonathan Scott of Property Brothers brought his best ideas when he created the quintessential modern hobby farm nestled in the El Sobrante hills.

This five bedroom, multi-level home offers plenty of living space and includes an in-home office, beautiful laundry room, tons of clever storage spaces and more.

Entertain guests as you prepare dinner with your new state of the art black stainless appliances in the large open concept kitchen. Other features include eco-friendly living walls, gorgeous outdoor decks, low maintenance landscaping and stunning light fixtures to adorn every ceiling."

Drew's Design

2031 Buena Vista Dr. | Pinole, CA 94564

Drew's project in Pinole. Love the way the expanses of stucco are broken up with architectural features. Photo from Zillow.

Don't miss the "Before" photos at the end of this post!

The MLS reads: "Beautifully renovated and fully designed by HGTV’s Property Brothers, this California modern ranch home, with attached 2 car garage, includes all the designer furniture and decor."

So it sounds like this one includes the furniture as priced? With both sales, the website says the proceeds "benefit the local community."

The home last sold in December 2017 for $520,000. Here's what the front looked like before the renovation:

Which Property Brother has the better design? We won't know the "winner" until the season airs on May 23, 2018. This one is a tough call for me, I think their styles are so similar. I guess the Pinole house (Drew's) is my favorite, though it seems more cramped inside. (You can comment by signing in with your Facebook or Google account, just click Login below).
